PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adequately fasten and fix a main cap to a cylinder block without increasing the number of components and assembly man-hour. SOLUTION: In a V-type engine, a crankshaft is held by fastening and fixing a main cap 2 to a cylinder block 1 with a pair of bolts 3 and 3 disposed sandwiching the crankshaft 4. In this case, at least a part of the mating faces 1a and 2a of the cylinder block 1 with the main cap 2 is formed of an inclined face which is in parallel with the axial line of the crankshaft 4 and inclines with respect to the axial direction of the bolts 3 and 3. Thereby, since the fastening force of the bolts 3, 3 also operates in the lateral direction of the main cap 2 by means of the inclined face, the lateral movement of the cap 2 is prevented.
