PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a centrifugal separator which makes an installation space compact and has a discharge switching mechanism reduced in installation cost. SOLUTION: The centrifugal separator is constituted so that a freely openable and closable damper device is disposed on the cake inlet side of a discharge shoot which discharges cake, wherein, upon the centrifugal separation process, the cake is discharged through the discharge shoot 8 and, upon the in-machine cleaning process, the cake inlet side of the discharge shoot 8 is covered with a damper 9D of the damper device 9 to prevent cleaning liquid and remaining cake from flowing out to the discharge shoot 8.
