An electromagnetic-wave shielding member (1) is composed of a light-shielding conductor layer (11) having a blackened layer (12) on the outer surface seen on the viewer side. The conductor layer (11) has many openings arrayed adjacently and constituted by a mesh portion (2) facing to the central portion (5b) of the image light-emitting portion (5a) of an image display element (5) and a frame portion (3) surrounding the periphery of the mesh portion (2) and facing to the outer peripheral portion (5c) of the image light-emitting portion (5a) of the image display element (5). When bordering the peripheral portion of a screen of an image display (D) with a black light-shielding layer, addition of another printing step or the like is not needed. Furthermore, the number of steps and the material cost are not increased, nor light-shielding variation liable to be caused in printing occurs. In the frame portion (3), a light-transmissive pattern portion (9) having pattern-like openings (4a) therein is provided.
