PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which suppresses wax filming on an image carrier and can ensure good image properties. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has at least an image carrier (106), a developing means for forming a toner image on the image carrier (106) and a cleaning means for removing toner remaining on a surface of the image carrier (106), wherein the developing means forms the toner image on the image carrier (106) with at least a wax-containing toner, and the cleaning means has an elastic body blade (116) which comes in contact with the image carrier (106) in a direction opposite to the rotation direction of the image carrier (106), wherein the elastic body blade (116) makes, at the contact part, an angle between a cross section in an axial direction and the surface of the image carrier (106) within a range of 90-120°as an angle to the upstream direction of rotation of the image carrier (106).
