PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an innovated fastening system capable of attaching a relatively thin-gauge sheet metal plate stud member to a relatively thin-gauge metal plate track member. SOLUTION: The fastening system is equipped with a plurality of fasteners to be installed on the thin-gauge sheet metal plate member each furnished with a shank, a head, and a pointed end, each shank having approximately an elliptical section defined by the width W and the height H, wherein the aspect ratio A/R defined by the ratio of the width W to the height of the fastener is larger than one, a power tool having a magazine accommodating a plurality of fasteners, and a means capable of installing the fasteners in the respective metal plate members having small thickness without impairing the retaining force and the drawout resistance of the fastener installed in the metal plate member having small thickness without damaging the metal plate member having small thickness and striking out one of the fasteners from the magazine at a predetermined velocity within the range of 254-635 m/sec.
