PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner with improved power consumption efficiency of a secondary battery. SOLUTION: A battery pack 3 can be mounted for feeding power to an electric blower 2; and according to the type of rated capacity of the battery pack 3, for example, according to whether the battery pack is a standard pack or a high capacity pack whose rated capacity is larger than the standard pack, an operation mode of the electric blower 2 is set by a control means 12. Accordingly, reduction of the discharge capacity caused by the running of a larger quantity of electric currents than necessary to the battery pack 3 can be reduced, so that the power consumption efficiency of the battery pack 3 can be improved.
