Methods and compositions for the detection of pathologic events

In vitro detection of disease comprising determining, in a blood sample, a physiological state of the blood cells that is characteristic of the disease, is new. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) preparing a nucleic acid library characteristic of a disease; (2) preparing a nucleic acid library characteristic of a particular stage in the development of a disease; (3) a preparation containing nucleic acid specific for genes whose expression level is modified in blood cells from a diseased organism; (4) a preparation of nucleic acid containing splice forms of genes that are characteristic of blood cells from a diseased organism; and (5) a kit for determining disease containing a library of nucleic acid specific for alterations in gene expression characteristic of blood cells from a diseased organism.
