The invention relates to a terminal and server for the synchronisation of contact data. More specifically, the invention relates to a fixed telephone terminal (16) comprising a telephone directory and means for transmitting and receiving SMS messages. According to the invention, the terminal also comprises: means for converting data from the telephone directory into SMS messages in order to transmit same to a server (10), and/or means for receiving SMS messages from the server, said messages representing data from the directory, and means for converting the SMS messages received into input for the directory.
