Catalyst (I) comprises a support and monocrystalline nanoparticle of at least a metallic element deposited on the surface of the support presenting a non-ordered texture. Catalyst (I) comprises a support and monocrystalline nanoparticle of at least a metallic element deposited on the surface of the support, where the nanoparticles (50 wt.%) presents an average anisotropy defined by a factor F (lower than 0.7) equal to (4 x pi x S)/P2> (where S and P are measured by electron transmission microscopy) in which S is the surface (m2>) of the particle measured in a characterization plan and P is the perimeter (m) of the particle measured in a plane of characterization, and the support presents a non ordered texture. An independent claim is also included for the preparation of (I) which comprises synthesizing the mono crystalline anisotropic nanoparticles and depositing the nanoparticles on the surface of the support to form a non-ordered texture.
