The invention relates to a method for synthesizing ultramarine pigments that comprises a step for calcinating, in an air-sealed manner, a mixture comprising zeolite A, optionally comprising sodium sulfide and/or sulfur, optionally comprising hydroxide ions, and polysulfides of the composition NA<SUB>2</SUB>S<SUB>n</SUB>, n being a number greater than 1. The product resulting from the calcination reaction is cooled in an air-sealed manner while obtaining a raw product containing the synthesized ultramarine pigment, polysulfides and, optionally, sulfur. The polysulfides NA<SUB>2</SUB>S<SUB>n</SUB> participating in the calcination reaction originate, at least in part, from the recycling of polysulfides and, optionally, of sulfur that are present in excess in the raw product. |
