Linear bearing with adjustable play

The linear bearing has a profiled guide rail, which has tracks on both of its parallel longitudinal sides. Two parallel guide boxes (1) are arranged on the longitudinal sides of the rails, and are connected to each other and to a carrier. A pretensioned metal sheet (9) with a U-shaped cross section is placed on the carrier, and its web (11) covers both guide boxes and two connecting webs (7) which extend between them. The U-shaped limbs (12) of the sheet are sprung against the outer sides of the boxes. The sheet may be made from spring steel, and its limbs may be bent slightly towards its web, so that each limb forms an angle with the web which is less than 90 degrees.
