PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device which is possible to carry out high speed editing operation even when moving image data are recorded in a recording medium composed of a plurality of clusters. SOLUTION: The recording device is provided with a recording means which records moving image data composed of a plurality of frames in the recording medium composed of a plurality of clusters, a setting means which sets an editing unit of moving image data recorded on the recording medium, a control means which controls the recording means so that a head frame of each editing unit in the moving image data from a cluster in the recording medium based on the editing unit set by the setting means, and a management information processing means which creates management information showing a number of the head cluster of the editing unit to be next reproduced and data recording status in each cluster for the each editing unit.
