PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video signal processor capable of varying the start position of a synchronizing signal according to types of video signals. SOLUTION: The video signal processor has a synchronizing separation circuit 60 which separates a horizontal synchronizing signal and a vertical synchronizing signal from a luminance signal; a discrimination circuit 70 which discriminates between a standard mode and a nonstandard mode of the video signal from the horizontal synchronizing signal, and generates a control signal according to the mode of the video signal; and a digital signal processing circuit 50 to which the control signal and the luminance signal from the discrimination circuit, the luminance signal and the color signal from a color signal separation circuit, and the horizontal synchronizing signal from the synchronizing separation circuit are supplied, and in which the vertical synchronizing signal is adjusted according to the control signal.
