PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform data transmission using a plurality of transmitting/receiving antennas by selecting mutually different encoding rates and modulation systems among a plurality of streams allocated to a plurality of transmitting antennas without increasing a device scale. SOLUTION: On a transmission side, punctured symbol patterns of respective streams are collectively generated according to modulation modes by the streams, and punctured symbols are generated by removing unnecessary symbols from code symbols according to the patterns, allocated to the respective streams, and transmitted. On a reception side, the same punctured symbol patterns as those used on the transmission side are collectively generated, lost symbols are inserted into the positions of the unnecessary symbols removed on the transmission side, and the maximum likelihood decoding of received code symbols is carried out.
