PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an armrest which makes a locking position freely adjustable relative to a backrest seat and has an improvement in operability for adjusting the locking position. SOLUTION: The armrest 4 is turnably attached to a side portion of a backrest 3 of the backrest seat. The armrest includes a clutch mechanism 5 attached to the side portion of a backrest 3, and an armrest body 6 attached to the clutch mechanism 5. The clutch mechanism 5 has a one-way clutch allowing only upward turning of the armrest body 6 and restricting its downward turning, and an unlocking means for releasing the restriction of the downward turning by the one-way clutch. The unlocking means is provided at a clutch-holding portion 8 for holding the one-way clutch, and operated by an operation button 27 provided at the clutch-holding portion 8.
