PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a sleeve covering member having durability in a high yield, in which the generation of wrinkles is prevented or suppressed. SOLUTION: Inside a mold 12, a base body 14 and, at the outside thereof, a resin sleeve 16 in a state where tension is beforehand applied thereto in an axial direction over an elastic deformation region to a plastic deformation region, so as to elongate the same, then the tension is released from the elongated state, and it is left, thus the relaxation of the elongation is caused, are arranged on almost the same axis. Thereafter, an elastic material precursor 18 is injected between the base body 14 and the resin sleeve 16. Then, the elastic material precursor 18 is hardened to a prescribed hardness within a time at which the relaxation of the elongation in the resin sleeve 16 is substantially finished.
