PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gingival retraction material enlarging gingival crevice, reducing gingival crevice tissue fluid, having hemostatic activities and capable of keeping the gingival crevice dry. SOLUTION: The gingival retraction material contains a fibrillated fiber paste and has 31×10<SP>6</SP>-71×10<SP>6</SP>cP viscosity. The gingival retraction material comprises water, a flavoring agent, a pigment, a filler and the fibrillated fiber. The appearance of the fibrillated fiber exhibits a ribbon, fibrils or barbs, or is formed by a complicated mixture thereof, and the fiber structure is characterized by the L/D axis direction ratio (ratio of the length to the diameter) regulated so as to be≥10. The content of the fibrillated fiber is 0.1-15 wt.%. The content of the kaoline filler is 30.0-65.0 wt.%. The content of an aluminum chloride astringent agent is 7.0-15.0 wt.%.
