PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fan filter unit provided with a high chemical air purification function and having low maintenance load. SOLUTION: This fan filter unit comprises a dust removal filter 15 housed in a unit case 12 and a fan 7 installed in the unit case 12 for taking in air A to the unit case through an air inlet 14 and blowing out the taken air A through an air blowing outlet 13 via the dust removal filter 15. A container part 17 through which the air A is to be passed is disposed in the unit case 12 in a manner that the air A is taken in the unit case through the air inlet 14 via the container part 17 or in a manner that the air A taken in the unit case through the air inlet 14 is passed through the container part 17, and a large number of granules 20 floating in the container part 17 by air flow in the inside are put in the container part 17 and a photocatalyst X is formed on the surfaces of these granules 20, and a light source 21 for irradiating the inside of the container part 17 with light is installed.
