PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an antenna system which does not require many antenna installation spaces by setting a proper tilt angle to an adaptive array antenna for performing directivity control in a vertical plane. SOLUTION: The antenna system 300 has: a collinear array antenna means 302 including a plurality of subarrays having one power feed terminal and one or more antenna elements connected to the power feed terminal; an adaptation processing means 306 for adaptively calculating a weighting factor for determining directivity under a given tilt angleθ<SB>t</SB>; and means 312, 322 for weighting a signal passing each power feed terminal of the plurality of subarrays by the weighting factor. The adaptation processing means multiplies a prospective angleΨto be determined by ratio between cell radius and antenna height of a radio base station by a numeric value c within a predetermined range and calculates the tilt angleθ<SB>1</SB>.
