PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for determining a segmenting range of a prescribed number of still pictures from moving picture data in a printer. SOLUTION: The method for determining the segmenting range of a prescribed number of still pictures whose printing is desired from the moving picture data by the printer provided with: an image acquisition section for acquiring a plurality of still pictures from a medium storing the moving picture data on the basis of a plurality of frame images configuring the moving picture data; a display section for displaying the acquired still pictures; and an operation section for setting print conditions of the still pictures, divides the moving picture data into a prescribed number of blocks as an object range, acquires still pictures on the basis of the prescribed frame image belonging to each block by each block division, and displays the still picture by the number of acquired blocks on the display section, uses the operation section to select one still picture from the still pictures by the number of displayed blocks, and determines the segmenting range of a prescribed number of the still pictures whose printing is desired.
