A reed bed waste water treatment assembly has cartridges eliminating nitrates and phosphates using the Subterra(RTM) system. The assembly consists of a multi-chamber trench (2), a high pressure dirty water pump (3), a collector and distributor shaft (7), a system of pressure hoses (11), a ring drain (14) and eliminator/adsorption cartridges (16). The pump (3) is located in a submerged pipe (4) within the third trench (2) chamber, or in an external pump settling basin (5). The pump is linked by pressure pipes to the collector and distributor shaft (7). The shaft (7) has distributor fittings (8) with ball tap links to the pressure hose system (11). The pressure hoses are made of micro-porous synthetic rubber (EDPM DN 12) which expand under pressure from the high pressure pump (3) to open the pores. The reed bed (9) is 1.20 m deep and sealed with 1.5 mm thick polyethylene foil (15). The bed upper layer consists of washed gravel (12) (grain size 8-32 mm) and is linked at a depth of 0.15 m to the pressure hose system (11). The next layer is of washed sand (13) (grain size up to 2 mm) extending from 0.20 m depth the root base. At a depth of 1.15 m the sand layer is in contact with the ring drain (14), which is packed in gravel. Clean water drains to the collector and distributor shaft (7). The reeds (9, 10) stabilize the ground hydraulic characteristics.
|
