<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily manufacture an air cleaning unit in which titanium dioxide is deposited on many needle-like bases erected on a substrate and to easily change a substrate size. <P>SOLUTION: A rectangular substrate 1 where the needle-like bases 2 are erected in a two-dimensional array is divided into elements 4a and 4b extended thin and long where the needle-like bases 2 are erected in a one-dimensional array, thereby the air cleaning unit in which the needle-like bases 2 are erected on the substrate 1 in the two-dimensional array is easily manufactured just by tightening the individual elements 4a and 4b in simple constitution in parallel.
