摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve reflection characteristics of a liquid crystal apparatus or the like having a reflecting film and a color filter and to obtain a high-quality display image. <P>SOLUTION: A resin scattering layer having fine recesses and projections on the surface in at least a reflective display region is formed to a predetermined thickness on at least a reflective display region of a TFD (thin film diode) element substrate, a reflecting layer having the recesses and projections on its surface is formed thereon, and an overcoat layer of a predetermined thickness is formed thereon. A color layer is formed in a position opposing to pixel electrodes is formed on a color filter substrate. The element substrate and the color filter are held at a specified distance by a photo-spacer formed in the color filter substrate side and in a position corresponding to the reflective display region. Thus, the thickness of the liquid crystal layer corresponding to a transmissive display region is controlled to be larger than the thickness of the liquid crystal layer corresponding to the reflective region, and the liquid crystal device has a multi-gap structure. Since the reflecting layer is structured as separated from the color layer in a liquid crystal display apparatus having the above structure, reflection characteristics or the like can be improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
