PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the damages in a paper or troubles in a machine due to the drying of varnish generating at the starting and ending times of coating from developing. SOLUTION: In this coating device, a first varnish coating means 25 is equipped with a chamber coater 29 for supplying varnish to a rubber impression cylinder 24, a first anilox roller 28 and a first varnish film forming cylinder 27, while a second varnish coating means 26 is equipped with a chamber coater 33, a second anilox roller 32, a second varnish film forming cylinder 31 and an offset cylinder 30. The front surface of a paper passing between the rubber impression cylinder 24 and the offset cylinder 30 is coated with varnish with the offset cylinder 30, while the rear surface of the paper is coated with the varnish supplied with the rubber impression cylinder 24 by the printing pressure of the offset cylinder 30. Spraying nozzles 55A and 55B, which supply water to the first varnish film forming cylinder 27 and to the offset cylinder 30, supply water to the varnish coating to the first paper passing between the rubber impression cylinder 24 and the offset cylinder 30. In addition, the spraying nozzles 55A and 55B supply water to the varnish after the finish of the supplying of the last paper and the finish of the supplying of the varnish from the first and the second anilox rollers 28 and 32.
