PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel composition effective for restoring trouble of a transmitting device of a fuel gauge in a fuel storage tank of a vehicle. SOLUTION: This fuel composition contains a certain combination of a poly(oxyalkylene)amine and a thiadiazole compound as a fuel additive in a hydrocarbon fuel, such as gasoline or a diesel fuel. The composition prevents the transmitting device of the fuel gauge from being damaged by corrosion related to sulfur or restores the transmitting device of the fuel gauge, especially a transmitting device of the fuel gauge made of a silver base material, to an operating state approximately equal to that of a new transmitting device in the fuel storage tank of the vehicle. Further, a method for preventing the transmitting device of the fuel gauge from being damaged by the corrosion related to the sulfur or restoring the transmitting device of the fuel gauge made of the silver base material to the operating state approximately equal to that of the new device in the fuel storage tank of the gasoline- or diesel-powered vehicle comprises using the certain combination of the poly(oxyalkylene)amine and the thiadiazole compound as the fuel additive.
