A device storing readily volatile materials (especially essential oils) and releasing them on or through the skin comprises (A) a reservoir (4) containing a porous solid (6) impregnated with the volatile material, this reservoir (4) being enclosed between a vapor-impermeable layer (8) and a semipermeable membrane (12) to control release of the volatile phase; and (B) a vapor-impermeable protective layer (14) covering the membrane (12).
