PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonvolatile memory device controlled by a microcontroller.

SOLUTION: A system and a method for operating the nonvolatile memory (NVM) device including the microcontroller controlling a peripheral circuit associated to an NVM array are disclosed. The method includes: a stage for providing at least one operation command to the microcontroller of the NVM device; and a stage for applying an operation signal to the peripheral circuit of the NVM device, and operating the NVM array on the basis of at least one operation command.
