PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a rotary electric machine having a split core that is so constructed that cogging having variation in various phases, produced in manufacturing, can be removed by adjustment after assembly and can be easily adjusted after assembly. SOLUTION: The permanent-magnet rotary electric machine includes: a rotor 3 having a cylindrical permanent magnet 2 magnetized in multiple poles; and a stator 4 constructed of a split core that is placed with an air gap between it and the permanent magnet 2 and is split into multiple pieces in the circumferential direction. The rotary electric machine is provided with multiple cogging compensators 10a and 10b that are individually movable in the axial direction in proximity to the side end face of the permanent magnet 2 in the axial direction. The cogging compensators are so disposed that the spacing between the adjoining cogging compensators 10a and 10b is (90/P)+(360m/P) degrees in the relative angle relative to the rotation axis of the rotor, where P is the number of poles and m is an integer smaller than P.
