Formation testing system with connection path between clean and contaminated flow lines

An evaluation system for a formation having a virgin fluid 26 and a contaminated fluid 24, comprises evaluation and cleanup flow lines. The system may include a sidewall probe 18 for contacting the formation. The contaminated fluid may arise from pollution by mudcake 22. The evaluation flow line 28 and cleanup flowline 30 are connected to inlets for passage of the virgin and contaminated fluids respectively. These fluids pass into a downhole tool 10. A fluid circuit 34 selectively draws fluid into the flow lines. A fluid connection, which may consist of a crossover 48 or junction 51, is provided for linking the evaluation and cleanup flow lines. This allows selective diversion of the fluids. Sensors 38, 46 are mounted to at least one of the flow lines for measurement of parameters such as chemical content and pressure.
