A composition comprising cefuroxime axetil in particulate form is disclosed, wherein the particles are coated with integral coatings of a lipid or mixture of lipids which are insoluble in water and which disperse or dissolve on contact with gastrointestinal fluid, a bulk sweetener and a binding agent, wherein the composition further comprises acesulfame potassium and aspartame, and a texture modifier (such as polyvinylpyrrolidone, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, hydroxyethylcellulose, hydroxypropylcellulose, guar gum alginates, carrageenan or xanthan gum) which serves to mask the bitter taste of cefuroxime axetil upon oral administration.
