PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method of a plasma display panel capable of increasing the number of subfields without increasing power consumption during the address period. SOLUTION: In the plasma display panel in which a plurality of discharge cells are formed, a field is divided into N subfields having weights (N is a natural number) and the sum of the weights of the subfields on which the image data is mapped among the N subfields is expressed as gray scale. Therein, inputted image data are mapped on N subfields, M subfields for expressing the image data is set among the N subfields (M is a natural number smaller than N) and the image data is expressed according to the sum of the weights of the M subfields.
