PURPOSE:To provide an optical pickup capable of improving recording density even when an optical disk having biaxial double refractions is used. CONSTITUTION:This is the optical pickup for irradiating the signal surface 2a of an optical disk 2 with a light beam from a light source 1 and splitting this reflective light to a light receiving section 3, the reflective light is split by a non-polarization beam splitter 4 and a 1/4 wavelength plate 5 is provided between this non-polarization beam splitter 4 and the signal surface 2a of the optical disk. The reflectivity of the splitter 4 is 40%-60%. A polarization beam splitter 10 may be provided between the light source 1 and the non-polarization beam splitter 4. In this case, the polarization beam splitter 10 is also used as a 45 deg. mirror. |
