<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase brightness of transmission display by using a prism sheet in a liquid crystal display device switchable between the reflecting display and transmission display. <P>SOLUTION: A lighting device 115 for emitting light toward a liquid crystal cell is provided, and a translucent reflection film 114 with a line-form opening is arranged between a liquid crystal layer 103 and the lighting device 115.
