PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing method, a data processing device, a diagnosis method and a diagnosis device for improved accuracy of diagnosis of parameters of objects such as machines operable in a plurality of operation modes.

SOLUTION: Detection means 1a to 1d detect a plurality of normal-condition data sets each made up of n parameter values for every operation mode. A self-organization map forming means 2 forms a self-organization map for every operation mode using those normal-condition data sets. An abnormal-condition data generating means 7 increases or decreases the parameter values of the normal-condition data sets using variation vectors to generate as many virtual abnormal-condition data sets as the number of the variation vectors for each normal-condition data set. An operation mode ratio computing means 8 determines for every abnormal-condition data set one of the self-organization maps highest in degree of similarity to the abnormal-condition data set, and computes an abnormal-condition operation mode ratio vector for every variation vector.
