PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foldable container which has a relatively good operability of release of locking and little restriction on designing, and hardly generates an unexpected release of the locking caused by operation error. SOLUTION: The foldable container is equipped with a bottom wall 1, a pair of short side walls 2, a pair of long side walls 3, and a locking mechanisms (20 and 31) for locking respective side walls under a standing condition based on engagements between adjoining short and long side walls 2 and 3. A lock releasing means for releasing a locking condition by the locking mechanism is composed by that an operating member 4 with operation transmitting projections 43 on both end parts is movably held in the face directing direction of the short side wall on an operating member holding part (18, etc.) formed on the short side wall. Based on an operation for drawing out the operating member 4 from the operating member holding part, an engagement between the outside engaging projection 23 of a plate-like elastic piece 20 constituting the locking mechanism and an engaging channel 31 on the long side wall 3 is released, and the short side walls 2 (and successively, the long side walls 3) are formed foldable.
