A fuel cell system capable of reliably and quickly discharging liquid in a fuel cell stack to the outside. The fuel cell system has a passage (76) capable of discharging at least liquid in the fuel cell stack (20), in which a reaction gas with a higher speed or a greater amount than a reaction gas supplied in normal operation of the fuel cell stack (20). When the reaction gas of a higher speed or a greater amount is supplied before the fuel cell stack (20) is actuated, residual liquid in the fuel cell stack (20) is reliably and quickly blown off and discharged to the outside. The residual liquid can be more easily discharged by providing a volume (30) in the discharge passage (76) or setting the pressure inside the fuel cell stack (20) at a negative level when it is actuated. |
