A papermaking machine has a one-piece net membrane in web form. That side in contact with the machine has a larger net structure than the side in contact with the paper. The membrane layer has a fibre pile that is harder on the side in contact with the machine than that other in contact with the paper. The membrane has parallel, encapsulated strengthening threads. Also claimed is a process and roller form to make a suitable membrane.
