<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid composition which shows shelf stability during preservation and can form an ink acceptance layer featuring the excellent grab of a coloring agent and high water/injury resistance, and a recording medium with an ink acceptance layer formed of the liquid composition. <P>SOLUTION: This liquid composition is used for forming the ink acceptance layer and contains an alumina hydrate, a urethane emulsion, a polyvinyl alcohol and a polyvinyl crosslinking component. The urethane emulsion and the polyvinyl alcohol are preferably nonionic.
