PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic head slider in which power consumption and response speed of a heating means for adjusting gap floating quantity (hg) are improved and prolonging a lifetime of a reproducing element is achieved. SOLUTION: A recording reproducing element 2 is formed at the vicinity of a floating plane (ABS) on a slider 4, and its surroundings are filled with alumina 3. The recording reproducing element 2 is constituted of an upper part magnetic pole 5 and a lower part magnetic pole 6 for recording, a coil 7, resist 8 filling the surroundings of the coil 7, the reproducing element (MR) 9, and an upper part shield 10 and a lower part shield 11 protecting the reproducing element 9 from the outside magnetic field. And a heater 12 for adjusting floating quantity is provided between the slider 4 and the recording reproducing element 2 and at the vicinity of the reproducing element 9. Also, a temperature gradient relaxation material 31 having higher heat conductivity than a material (alumina) 3 filling the heater 12 and the surroundings is formed at the vicinity of the heater.
