<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical pickup reproducing information with high quality irrespective of the type of an optical disk. <P>SOLUTION: This optical pickup is constructed in such a manner that a laser beam emitted from a laser beam source is applied to the information recording surface of one of first and second optical disks in which pieces of information are recorded in different board thicknesses but in the same format, and the quantity change of a laser beam modulated on the information recording surface is detected. In this case, an objective lens is disposed on the optical path of the laser beam, the lens having a lens surface shaped to optimize a spherical aberration generated in the information recording surface of a virtual disk having a medium value between the board thicknesses of the first and second optical disks set to a board thickness. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
