PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a die casting apparatus and a die casting method with which the vacuum degree and the oxygen concentration in a cavity are improved. SOLUTION: A plurality of holes for injecting compressed gas disposed with a prescribed pattern on the outer peripheral surface 17a of a plunger tip 17, are arranged, and a fluid seal is formed at the gap between the plunger tip 17 and a sleeve 15 by injecting the oxygen gas from each hole for injecting the compressed gas. The flowing-in of atmosphere into the sleeve 15 from the gap between the plunger tip 17 and the sleeve 15, is prevented with this fluid seal at the reduced pressure time. In this way, the cavity 4 is efficiently reduced in the pressure and also, the vacuum degree in the cavity 4 is improved. Further, since the oxygen gas injected from each hole for injecting the compressed gas is introduced into the cavity 4, the oxygen concentration in the cavity 4 is enhanced by improving the oxygen replacing efficiency.
