The method involves adjusting hardness of a damper (10) of a landing gear (19) of an aircraft during compression of the damper according to an inherent frequency of deformation of structure of the aircraft. The damper has two fluid chambers communicating with each other through a conduit equipped with a valve (18) whose opening is adjusted for adjusting the hardness of the damper. An independent claim is also included for a device for controlling hardness of a damper of a landing gear of an aircraft.
