PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state image pickup device that is accurate and reliable even if a highly fine process is performed. SOLUTION: A solid-state image pickup device has a photoelectric conversion section, a charge transfer section having a charge transfer electrode for transferring charge generated in the photoelectric conversion section, and a peripheral circuit section connected to the charge transfer section; wherein a surface of a field oxidation film, which is provided on the peripheral circuit section and the charge transfer section in a manner of enclosing an effective image pickup region of the photoelectric conversion section, is at the same level as a surface level of the photoelectric conversion section.
