<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control device excellent in low temperature activation. <P>SOLUTION: In this exhaust emission control device, an exhaust emission control catalyst carrying platinum on a carrying layer containing at least cerium is arranged in an exhaust gas flow passage, an open close valves are installed on an upstream and a downstream of the catalyst in exhaust gas flow respectively, and the open close valve are closed after making atmosphere of the catalyst reducing atmosphere and making platinum metal state before engine stop. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
