PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a driver to obtain detailed information on congestion without operating an operation section. SOLUTION: The information providing system comprises an information acquisition means for acquiring map data and congestion information, a road map display processing means for displaying a road map on a display section 35 on the basis of the map data, a congestion indicator display processing means for displaying a congestion indicator along a road on the basis of the congestion information, a display priority providing means for providing each congestion spot with the need for displaying congestion detailed information indicating detailed contents of congestion as display priority, and a congestion detailed information display processing means for displaying the congestion detailed information on the road map for a specific congestion spot on the basis of the display priority.
