PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a human body sensor inhibited from misdetecting and capable of surely detecting a person in sensing area. SOLUTION: The human body sensor 1 comprises: a light emission source 5 for irradiating objective space with the light periodically varying intensity modulated light; a photodetector element 3 arranged with a plurality of photosensitive parts for generating the electric power corresponding to the received ligh amount for imaging the objective space; a distance image sensor part 2 for forming the distance image, the pixel value of which is the distance value, by converting the phase difference of the intensity modulated light from the light emitted from the light source 5 till received by each light receiving part after reflected by the object in the object space into the distance to the object; and a signal processing circuit 10 for detecting the existence of the person in the sensing area on the basis of the distance image of the distance image sensor part 2. The signal processing circuit 10 eliminates the area from the sensing area till approximately a constant height using the installation height of the distance image sensor part 2 and information in a direction of viewing direction of each pixel.
