PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens tilt learning control method capable of performing lens tilt learning control within a short time, and an optical disk device capable of shortening start time by using the method. SOLUTION: The lens tilt learning control method for performing learning control to maintain the proper state of a relative angle between an objective lens and an optical disk when a laser beam converged from the objective lens is applied to the optical disk to record/reproduce information includes dividing an optical disk area for executing tilt learning into a plurality in the diameter direction of the optical disk, executing tilt learning only in the innermost peripheral area of the divided optical disk areas at the starting time, determining the execution of tilt learning at a seeking destination when seeking occurs, and executing tilt learning in an area including the position before seeking to the position when tilt learning is not executed.
