<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust the misregistration of a pixel on a line in a main scanning direction in a high-density manner, to automatically adjust the misregistration of the pixel, caused by a change in the temperature of an apparatus, and to rapidly perform these adjustments, in the image forming apparatus which records the pixel on the line in the main scanning direction in accordance with a recording signal by performing switching between the recording signals directed to the pixel, in synchronization with a pixel synchronous clock specifying an pixel section on the line in the main scanning direction. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus, which records the pixel on the line by performing the switching between the recording signals in synchronization with the pixel clock, comprises: image detecting means 76a-76c for detecting the misregistration of an x-position in a plurality of places 94a-95d on the line; storage means 19 and 67 for storing pixel clock adjusting data, directed to the x-position of each of a plurality of points, for reducing the misregistration of each x-position at the plurality of points between adjacent places in a plurality of places, computed based on the misregistration of an x-pixel in the plurality of places detected by a means 70 for supporting and x-driving the image detecting means, and the image detecting means; means 17, 68 and 69 for reading out adjusting data directed to an x-pixel position from the storage means, in accordance with a change in the x-pixel position on the line, brought about by main scanning; and means 63 and 66 for adjusting the pixel clock according to the read adjusting data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
