<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor drive device capable of detecting failure in an inverter even while a motor is rotating at a high speed without need for using any other current sensor than those required for motor control. <P>SOLUTION: If any addition value of actual voltages Vu, Vv, Vw of respective phases of a brushless DC motor is larger than a predetermined threshold value, a motor drive such as an inverter is determined as being failed. With a third harmonic component superimposed on a voltage command value, the motor drive is determined as being failed if the addition value of a voltage is larger than a predetermined value after the third harmonic component is removed from the actual voltages Vu, Vv, Vw. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
