PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reference coordinates calculation method determining coordinates of a control point, in a range that is wider than the measurement region of measuring machine. SOLUTION: Positions of a plurality of control points distributed over a domain wider than the measurement region of measuring machine are determined as coordinate points over a single reference coordinate system. First, a plurality of control points are divided into groups, according to the measuring domain of measuring machine. At this time, grouping is implemented so that each group includes common control points more than a predetermined number with at least one other group (grouping process). The control points are measured for each group (measurement process). The coordinate transformation functions are calculated for each aforementioned group, which transform each value obtained by measuring the control points common among the different groups by the different groups into the same or very approximating coordinate points (the calculation process of control point coordinate transformation functions). Coordinate transformation of the positions of each control point, measured by each group are implemented with the coordinate transformation functions calculated for each group (the coordinate transformation process).
